Parent FAQ

The questions parents actually ask before signing up — plans, age tiers, refunds, devices, and privacy.

Is SportRoots a good fit for beginners?

Absolutely. Every drill library is organized by skill tier — from first-timers through elite club — so your athlete starts where they are and works up at their own pace. Most of our drills are designed to be done at home with zero equipment.

What ages does it cover?

SportRoots is built for athletes ages 6 to 18. Programs are sorted into three age bands — 6–9, 10–13, and 14–18 — so the drills match your athlete’s stage of development rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

How is this different from YouTube?

YouTube gives you a jumble of unfiltered clips from strangers. SportRoots gives you a structured 3D-animated drill library: drills grouped by sport, age, and skill level, with full training programs that show your athlete what to do next. No ads and no hunting for the right video.

Do we need any equipment?

No equipment required to start. Most drills use a ball and a small patch of yard or living-room space. When a drill does need a goal, cone, or resistance band, we flag it up front so you know what to grab.

How is my athlete’s screen time managed?

Sessions are short — most drills run 10 to 25 minutes — and the work happens with the athlete on their feet, not sitting still. Parents stay in control with their own account; we don’t autoplay and we don’t push notifications at kids.

Can multiple kids in one family use it?

Yes. One subscription covers the whole household, so siblings in different sports and age groups can train on their own profiles without paying double.

What does it cost?

SportRoots Plus is $4.99/month or $39/year — the annual plan works out to $3.25/month and saves $20.88 compared with twelve monthly payments. Plus starts with a 30-day free trial, no card to start, and the option to cancel anytime. Lifetime is $99 one-time (founding price), while Club is $99/year for up to 5 coaches. Browsing drills and booking coaches are always free.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes — cancel from your account in two clicks, no phone calls and no retention emails. Plus Monthly and Plus Annual start with a 30-day free trial — no card is collected at sign-up — and renew automatically after the trial unless you cancel in your account.

What does each pricing tier include, and where does the free trial fit?

There are four plans — Plus Monthly, Plus Annual, Lifetime, and Club — and browsing drills and booking coaches are always free, with no card and no trial clock. SportRoots Plus is $4.99/month or $39/year: both unlock the full 3D-animated drill library, printables, and saved shelves, and both start with a 30-day free trial with no card required. Lifetime is $99 one-time (founding price) with the same library and no renewal. Club is $99/year for up to 5 coaches on one shared plan. The 30-day trial applies only to Plus Monthly and Plus Annual and never requires a card at sign-up.

What do U10, U12, U14, and U18 actually cover?

There are four age tiers. U10 (beginner, ages 6–9) is built around fundamentals, coordination, and body awareness — first-touch drills, balance and footwork foundations, and short sessions that match a younger athlete's attention span. U12 (intermediate, ages 10–13) is sport-specific skill building — first passes of stamina, sequencing of more complex skills, and named youth programs that progress week to week. U14 (advanced, ages 14–18) is competitive preparation — higher-intensity conditioning, advanced game-read drills, and pathways into the U18 progressions. U18 (elite-track continuation, ages 16–18) extends the advanced-track work into higher-intensity game-application and recruiting-grade conditioning — the same age tier the school and showcase team calendars map onto, so an athlete's drill library continues advancing instead of topping out at U14.

What's the refund policy?

Cancel Plus Monthly or Plus Annual in two clicks from the dashboard — no phone calls, no retention emails — and keep full access until the end of the current billing cycle. The 30-day free trial never charges a card — no card is collected at sign-up. Lifetime ($99 one-time) and Club ($99/year for up to 5 coaches) refund requests are handled case-by-case by SportRoots support.

What's supported — phones, tablets, and browsers?

SportRoots is a web app, so there is no native download to install. It runs on modern iPhone and iPad (current iOS plus the two prior major versions), modern Android phones and tablets (current OS plus the two prior major versions), and desktop browsers Safari, Chrome, Firefox, and Edge on the same current-plus-two-major-versions basis. Camera, microphone, and location are all opt-in per session — surfaced as standard browser permission prompts when a drill actually needs them, never silently enabled, and gated by appCapabilities in the app configuration (defaults off for microphone, camera, and geolocation). If a device or browser sits further behind those release lines, video playback may still work but new session features might not.

Where do uploaded clips live, and who can see them?

Clips a parent uploads land in Cloudflare R2 storage — they are never posted to public search or third-party social networks. The uploading parent sees them on the athlete's profile inside /dashboard, and in the parent's per-athlete recruiting view inside /account. On the recruiting profile, only the athletes the parent has explicitly granted access to can view that athlete's highlights reel — the grant list is per-athlete and family-controlled. Clips never leak outside that grant list and never to anonymous visitors of the public site. Each upload is capped at 100 MiB, 60 seconds in length, and 3 clips per athlete per drill, which matches the actual upload-handler limits, so parents do not have to second-guess the constraints.
